Inaugural Year

Our first year will be a bit of trial and error, but without a doubt it will be enjoyable and action-packed for all who attend. Our first randomly-selected ballpark will be that of the Atlanta Braves.

The concept is we go to some baseball games. Originally we were looking at the Fri and Sat night games (17th and 18th) vs. the Diamondbacks. Then we realized the *** himself, Barry Bonds, was coming to town and thought it might be cool to catch some history. Now the two games you have the option of attending are Thursday night Braves vs. Giants and/or the Saturday Braves vs. Diamondbacks. Dave is going to get some tickets in right field and catch one of his homers, so if you want to go to the Thursday night game let us know pretty soon.

Hotel info: Best Western Granada

We have reserved a block of rooms, to get these rates you need to call 404-876-6100 and ask for the "Mike Goldberg Bar Mitzvah" room block. Not kidding. You must book your room no later than July 15th – after that, no room block.

Our special Guy'sWeekend pricing is as follows:

7 standard double rooms reserved (2 beds) $109 / night

5 standard king rooms reserved (1 bed) $109/ night

3 two-BR "apartment" rooms reserved - two story, full kitchen, living room, skylights, fold out couch, two bedrooms with doors, etc $169/night

Rooms reserved for the nights of the 16th/17th/18th - they can reserve for any or all nights - does not have to be all 3. Tax is 15% - so if you get a $109 room it is actually $125 a night. So for those lacking in math skills (i.e. Thom):

Here's how you do it the economical way:

2 guys in a double, 2 nights = $250 / 2 = $125 per person
3 guys in a double, 2 nights = $260(roll out bed $5/night)/3=$87 per person
2 guys in a double, 3 nights = $375 / 2 = $187 per person
3 guys in a double, 3 nights = $390 = $130 per person

More Atlanta info:

Midtown is an expensive part of town, this is an excellent rate. If you are bringing a car you can park it out the hotel for $15 a day with all the in / out you want (similar to what Chuck’s boyfriend gives him, minus the $15 bucks). Breakfast is included in the cost of the room, so is a happy hour on Thursday and Friday. If you are flying into town you can take the MARTA directly from the airport to the hotel for 3 or 4 bucks.

Agenda:

The plan is Thursday, get in, get settled, and if so inclined head to the ballpark, first pitch is at 7:35. Friday is going to be our tournament day. We will hit a fun park, drive some go carts, play a best ball putt-putt, play some bar games (pool, foosball, darts), and based on how you did in those games that will be your stack of chips for the Hold ‘Em tournament that night. Saturday will be golf / hang out at the pool / brewery tour / Atlanta tour / whatever. We’ll meet at a bar in the Virginia Highlands (which is a free shuttle ride from our hotel), grab some grub, and head to Turner field for the 7:05 game vs. Arizona. Sunday – recover and head home.

If you are looking for someone to share a room with – say so on the Evite. If you want to go to the game on Thursday let Dave know ASAP . If you want to play golf on Saturday, the first 8 who ask for spots get to go. We will send out more info in the next few weeks. For once in your life plan ahead of time, seriously. Make this happen.
